This year, SmallData had the privilege of sponsoring the STRATOS Accelerated Guidance for Real-World Data Analysis Workshop, held from September 16 to 20, 2024. The workshop provided an invaluable platform for researchers grappling with real-world data challenges to engage with cutting-edge statistical methods and machine learning techniques.
Representing SmallData, our speaker Harald Binder introduced our CRC to a broader audience, emphasizing the crucial role of small data approaches in large-scale projects and spotlighting the CRC’s ongoing initiatives.
Lisa McShane, a member of SmallData’s external advisory board, also contributed to the workshop with a compelling talk on advanced statistical methods and machine learning. Her insights struck a chord with researchers eager to implement these techniques in real-world data analysis.
Following the workshop, we had the chance to speak with Harald Binder about his experience and the impact of SmallData at the event.
“This workshop was incredibly dynamic, capturing a shift happening in the data sciences, where disciplines like statistics are redefining their priorities and embracing new technologies. I sensed a lot of enthusiasm around small data approaches, which our CRC aims to integrate into the toolkits of applied researchers,” Binder shared.
